Hey, I'm Nathan and this is my blog.

Reflecting on my game Idea

1. I am designing this game on my belief that it will interest anyone who has a well interest in this type of information/game. 2. It will teach the person the difficulties in constructing an advanced peice of weponry. 3. My game happens in an imaginative land, between two warring races. 4. It will consist of medieval pieces that will set the time period. 5. A quiz is no fun at all.

Imagination

This game is about a trebuchet that will be attacking a castle, but you must build it first. The time period you will play in will of course be the medieval times. The background of the game will be just a simple field with some trees with a highly defensible castle on one side and an empty building space on the other. The object is to put the correct pieces together and destroy the castle. But this will be very challenging due to the variety of pieces given. If the correct pieces are not placed within the build area then the trebuchet will not fire and fall apart. Yet when you do you will receive the ending game screen resulting with the end of the game. The learning objective is not to build a wepon but learn how difficult it is to build one of these machines today, and then how they did it several hundred years ago. My target audience will be all ages, it will just be interest based on who plays the game. People really don't want to play a medieval game if they are not amazed by this time period.

I am excited to create this game because of my interest in the subject of medieval times, and ancient weaponry.

Choosing a topic

I have chose a topic to create a game on, it being mechanical engineering. It will have something to do with motors, gears, and other items of this sort. I strictly used wikipedia for my info, being the bad-ish source that it is I will try my best for the correct information.

Blog Prompt: Mini Game Project

I play a lot of games in my free time. These games are not on the computer though, I play a PS3 but still yet they have to program those games. The topic I'm not sure what its asking this on but this did not help me with deciding on a topic.

Welll

Um, well it is friday...I am not working just playing some more of those S.T.E.M. games.

Its okay

Well um been working on some stuff, usually the wiki.

Game Type

The game I would like to make would be an adventure/rpg type.

Opinion on online privacy

What you put on the Internet is your own business, but if you don't want your Identity stolen I sugest not putting personal information on any site or sharing your information.

Guess who is back

Well took this class again for the actual full time so, maybe I can actually finish a game this time.

Long time no blog

I have been working on the game everyday for the last few weeks which limited me from writing a blog everyday. But now since our game has been presented I can now slow production. About our game, hmmm well it wasn't finished when we presented, but ohh well. I am content with it.

Long time

Ummmmmmmmmm so I haven't updated this in quite a while because I have been working super hard on the game.

Assignment

I thought about how the games were made and knew it was very complex. I didn't realize that I could make games by using flash, I didn't know that is what is was used for. It is not really as complex as I had thought there is just a bunch of work involved.

Well

Well its Tuesday, its sunny...I have to go to work after school awesome.

Super Friday

Well its Friday and no teacher, but she left an assignment for us to do which is my previous post. So I will post again on Monday.

Other Team Game Idea

Team:ABC did a trivial game that asks questions on basic knowledge of the U.S., and how our government runs. I like this idea because you get your green card in the end of it, because you are an immigrant trying to get yours. There game was very smooth and the maze at the end was very challenging. The topic that they chose was quite an interesting part of civics, well I think so.

Gaming...and junk

Well we are working on our game, its a simulation about the environment and economy.

Tuesday...and junk.

Its Tuesday and we are working on the game again.

Skype

So I set up a skype today, Skater173030 add me?

Game

In the planning stage of the game, its quite hard to incorporate eviroment pollution into a civics category. But I think we have figured it out because citizenship pretty much requires you to sell and buy items, which helps the economy. If pollution get out of hand some major parts of the ecomony can fall. So its citizenship which is civics...Ha.

Super Monday

Ummmm another Monday. I dislike them

Monday

Another week has started, awesome...I hate school its like prison only worse. At least inmates get to talk and go outside from time to time.

Scrip

Working on scrip in Adobe Flash, its quite fun.

Snow

Well back after another week off due to snow...I love it, the snow that is, not school.

Game Reviews

  • Name and purpose of the game.
The Cost of Life, professional made, is a game that challenges its players to manage a rural family of five in Haiti over four years and keep them healthy, get them educated, and help them survive.
  • Describe it from a learner's point of view and a developer’s point of view.
This game teaches the importance of medical attention and education in third world countries. The developer wanted to express the need for these along with the importance of money, and overall family happiness.
  • Design Analysis
This game is very clean and well made, the graphics are really good.
  • Usability Analysis
The gameplay is simple by my standards, yet the game is hard to beat.
  • Suggestions for improvement.
Setting some diffuculty levels, and more health for the indiviuals in the family.
  • 2-3 things that you would like to learn how to do.
Make characters move along multiple paths, setting up random things to happen.

  • Name and purpose of the game.
Zeit Geist, user made, which is probably took is name from the movie Zeitgeist google it, it teaches facts from ancient Egypt and Greece, while letting you kill enemies.
  • Describe it from a learner's point of view and a developer’s point of view.
This game teaches some facts about life in these ancient cultures like their gods and geographical features.
  • Design Analysis.
The game does look fairly well for a user made game, it is fairly rough, and other than that it is well made.
  • Usability Analysis.
The story is hard to follow and what you are supposed to do is never clear, at least it wasn't for myself.
  • Suggestions for improvement.
The character in the gameplay doesn't turn around, so that would be one.
  • 2-3 things that you would like to learn how to do.
Making the charater move with certain keys, and moving enemies.

School

So it seems like we haven't been in school in a month, is pretty crazy with all the closings. Yet it is better than comming to school right?

Well

So this blog is better than this wiki thing.

Really?

Is school really necessary?

Globaloria

This week the class I'm in has started with the Globaloria program, which lets students learn about game making. I am looking forward to learning about and making games. Making games seems like it would be hard, but I have yet to figure out if it will be or not. So today I have made a blog page and this is it.
